Tratamento do diabetes tipo 2: tendências atuais

Resumo

O diabetes tipo 2 (DM2), doença não transmissível crônica, de crescente prevalência mundial, apresenta grande impacto na saúde visto suas complicações associadas e a morbimortalidade relacionada. A complexidade da otimização do controle glicêmico, assim como a variedade de opções de tratamento disponíveis, representa um obstáculo frente ao seu plano terapêutico, contribuindo, assim, para a inércia terapêutica e não alcance das metas preconizadas. Este artigo sintetiza a abordagem terapêutica individualizada do paciente com DM2, com base nas diretrizes atuais dos agentes farmacológicos disponíveis no mercado brasileiro, discutindo seus mecanismos de ação, benefícios e limitações.
