Resumo

A ecoendoscopia ou ultrassonografia endoscópica combina endoscopia com ultrassonografia, gerando uma imagem ecográfica intraluminal de alta resolução. Seu uso diagnóstico e terapêutico tem avançado rapidamente, permitindo identificar e tratar uma ampla variedade de doenças gastrointestinais, hepatobiliares, pancreáticas e mediastinais. Diretrizes americanas e europeias incluem como indicações para a ecoendoscopia a avaliação de malignidades do trato gastrointestinal superior, adenopatias mediastinais, lesões pancreáticas, tumores subepiteliais. O objetivo desta revisão é fornecer as indicações e princípios da ecoendoscopia.
